Every time my best friends come down to visit my family and I they always stop at Bojangles’. Regardless if we have food or not- this place is a must for them! & ordering a side of fries is a must for me when visiting… and their buttery biscuits!

February is Black History Month. But not only is it Black History Month which is also American history but it’s also the month of LOVE which is why this weeks verse is about loving God AND your neighbor! So here we go…

Mark 12:30-31 New Living Translation (NLT)

30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. 31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

Loving your neighbor as yourself is so important to God that He not only repeats Himself, He makes it a command. And not just one in a list of many commands. Jesus coupled the command to love your neighbor as yourself with loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

But loving your neighbor as yourself isn’t always easy. That’s why God made it a command. He knew we’d struggle. Making it a command is actually to our benefit. How is that? We have to do it on purpose, be intentional about it. Sometimes even out of our need.

This Sunday, February 17th is Random Act of Kindness Day. Do something nice for someone who doesn’t look like YOU or who you may not like at the moment! This world is in more dire need of LOVE and it’s our job to spread it.
